Seven Tips To Make Barbecuing Way Easier

You may not believe it, but barbecue season is about halfway over! You’ve already been grilling up a storm, or maybe storms have prevented you from grilling. Either way, we have seven tips to make the most of the rest of grilling season. These tips will make BBQing way easier.

1. Clean, preheat, oil.

Number one on the list is to ensure that your grill is happy and clean. This will make everything go so much easier whether you are grilling up a quick dinner, or making a meal for the masses. Don’t forget to properly preheat your grill and use the appropriate technique to ensure food doesn’t stick.

2. If you had one tool…

If you had to choose just one grilling tool to have. Get a sturdy set of tongs. They grip and flip without piercing and letting out all of the delicious juiciness that you’re working hard on keeping inside the food!

3. You can grill ANYTHING!

Yes, anything. Don’t be timid; the list of things you cannot barbecue is very small! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, you can do it all. There are over 14 cheesecake recipes on this website for a reason. YOU CAN GRILL IT! Trust me, everything is better when it’s cooked on the BBQ. If you are at a loss, just remember to season with salt and pepper and go from there. Meals don’t have to be overly complicated.

4. Feeding vegetarians isn’t hard.

Stop overthinking it. Grill-roasted vegetables, grill roasted peppers stuffed with rice and more veggies, grilled halloumi cheese, or grilled firm tofu. Add a lovely homemade vinaigrette, salt, and pepper, and you have a delicious meal that even the meat-a-tarians will love. Just toss in a little fresh bread to round things out – you can grill that too by the way.

5. Salad dressing and marinade

Both. Both is good. Did you know that making your own salad dressing is easy to do and super tasty? Just whisk together ¾ cup oil while drizzling in ¼ cup vinegar. You can use any kind of vinegar that strikes your fancy; it will customize the way your dressing tastes. Add a couple teaspoons of citrus, honey, or even mustard to stabilize the emulsion and enhance the flavor. Pick your favorite seasonings and herbs to add and create a dressing that perfectly compliments your meal. The best part of this? You can use that dressing on anything from salads (grilled, naturally) to grill roasted vegetables and most importantly as a marinade for your meal.

6. Oh skewer it!

Small things like meatballs, shrimp, and vegetables and skinny things like asparagus can sometimes fall between the grids, even our iconic WAVE™ cooking grids, which are specifically designed to help with that. However, there is a solution. Skewer it! Placing food on skewers will help keep it in place and provide even grilling. Just remember to keep things with similar grilling times together and don’t mix meat with veg.

7. Use nifty accessories.

Just because you are using an awesome accessory to grill your favorite meal, doesn’t mean that the meal needs to be complicated. Instead of skewers, try using a stainless steel grill topper. Add extra flavor by using a Himalayan Salt Platter as your grill topper. Inject flavor, like that homemade dressing/marinade, using our Marinade Injector, or use the Napoleon Baking Stones to make the best homemade pizzas, breads, scones, or even cookies that you have ever had.

BONUS TIP! - Don’t forget dessert.

You can barbecue dessert too! Toss peach halves onto the grids, slices of pound cake too, serve them together with your favorite ice cream. Voila! Insta-dessert. You can do the same with skewers of strawberry and fruit, or throw berries and some sugar into a pot for a quick jam-sauce – perfect for topping yogurt, cakes, or ice cream. Bananas and apples are delicious baked on the BBQ, and you can even bake cakes and cookies using indirect heat if you have a sweet tooth.
