- 2 x 1-1½ inch thick steaks like strip or ribeye
- Salt to taste
- High-temperature oil
- Butter
- Garlic
- Fresh herbs
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Salt the steaks at least 40 minutes in advance for the best results, however, you can pat the steaks dry and salt them while the griddle is preheating.
- Preheat the griddle for a two-zone cook, one set to high, and the other side set to medium.
- You will know that your griddle is ready to cook on when water beads on the surface instead of steaming.
- Add some high-temp oil to the griddle and lay the steak down, away from you. Press the steaks so that as much of the surface touching the griddle starts to sear. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until a crust has formed, and they easily release from the griddle surface. Flip and repeat.
- Temp the steaks, moving them to the cooler side of the griddle if they need more time. For extra flavor, add a pat of butter and some aromatics like garlic and fresh herbs while they finish.
- Rest the steaks for at least 5 minutes before slicing and serving seasoned with freshly ground black pepper and some finishing salt. Pair with your favorite seasonal sides.
Why settle for anything less than perfection? With your Napoleon Griddle, you can achieve a restaurant-quality sear that’s savory, delicious, and exciting to make. Fire up your griddle and enjoy the best steak you’ve ever cooked. What is your favorite way to cook a steak?
