Bone Dust Recipe

By: Andrea Alden

Really this is a Ted Reader signature seasoning. If you’re really lucky and see him live at a show like the Cottage Life show, then you can go to his booth and buy some. BUT when you run out and need more, here is the recipe to make it yourself.
I always keep a supply of this on hand. A nice big jar will last for ages, and it is ideal for putting in and on pretty much anything you can imagine.

Ingredients

½ cup

paprika

¼ cup

chili powder

3 tbsp.

salt

2 tbsp.

ground coriander

2 tbsp.

garlic powder

2 tbsp.

granulated white sugar

2 tbsp.

mild Indian curry powder

2 tbsp.

dry hot mustard powder
(Keen's or Coleman's)

1 tbsp.

freshly ground black pepper

1 tbsp.

dried basil

1 tbsp.

dried thyme

1 tbsp.

ground cumin

1 tbsp.

cayenne

Method
  1. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Transfer to a tightly sealed container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

I am blessed to have met Ted Reader in person. His personality and BBQ style is where I learned to be fearless with my own grill. His flavors are amazing and you should try his other seasoning blends when you can. At least this one can hold you for a little while, while you find some.
