Timberwolf® Smokeless Fire Pits - Modern Fires, Classic Vibes, No Smoke

There’s nothing like gathering around a crackling fire — until the smoke starts chasing you around the yard. That’s where the Timberwolf® Smokeless Fire Pit comes in. Whether you're roasting marshmallows with the family or adding cozy ambiance to your patio, Timberwolf® brings you all the warmth, with none of the smoky drama.

Thoughtfully engineered and built from the same durable materials as Napoleon’s top-tier grills, this fire pit checks all the boxes: sleek design, smokeless technology, and total backyard versatility. Available in 18" and 22" sizes, with finishes like premium Stainless Steel or the sleek Phantom Matte Black (available in 18"), this fire pit isn’t just functional — it’s a statement piece.

Stylish, Durable, and Built to Last

Made with premium materials, the Timberwolf® is built like a tank and designed to last for years. Over time, your stainless steel pit will develop a natural patina — unique blue, copper, or bronze hues caused by heat. It’s completely normal and adds character. Prefer the clean look? Just use a bit of Bar Keepers Friend to polish it back.

Why Go Smokeless?

The Timberwolf®’s dual-burn design takes the classic fire pit to the next level. It starts with a traditional fire using tinder, kindling, and dry firewood. As the flames build, oxygen is drawn into a secondary chamber where it’s superheated. This hot air is then released through strategically placed vents near the center and top of the fire pit, where it mixes with smoke particles. The result is a powerful secondary burn that drastically reduces smoke output. Once that process kicks in, you can say goodbye to dodging smoke and hello to cleaner, more enjoyable fireside moments.

Build the Perfect Burn

To get the most from your Timberwolf® Smokeless Fire Pit, follow these steps:

  1. Start with Tinder: Use natural fire starters like newspaper, fire cubes, or starter rings.
  2. Add Kindling: Dry, thin sticks are ideal for quick ignition.
  3. Use Dry Firewood: Small logs (2–4 inches thick) made from hardwood are best for long, steady burns.
  4. Try the Log Cabin Method: Stack kindling in a square pattern on top of your base logs. Add tinder, light it, and let the fire do the rest.

PRO TIP: Don’t expect the fire pit to be smokeless immediately — the fire needs time to reach the right temperature to activate the secondary burn.

Where to Use It

The Timberwolf® is extremely stable and can be placed on concrete, patio stone, wooden decks, or even grass. While it stays cooler underneath than traditional fire pits, we highly recommend pairing it with Napoleon’s Grill Mat for an extra layer of heat protection and peace of mind, especially on your stained wooden deck.

What About Clean-Up and Storage?

Once your fire has fully burned out and cooled:

  • Cold ash can be used as a natural garden pest repellent, compost enhancer, or ice traction aid in winter.
  • DO NOT pour water into the fire pit — it can warp the stainless steel and harden the ashes into a solid mass, which is difficult to remove when you clean the unit.

Cleanup is simple with the Timberwolf®. Once the fire has completely cooled, you can safely scoop out the ashes and dispose of them in a metal bin or bucket. It’s a good idea to clear out ash regularly to maintain proper airflow for your next burn. Over time, the stainless steel will naturally develop a patina from the heat—a unique and harmless discoloration. If you'd prefer to keep it looking polished, you can gently clean the surface with a soft cloth and Bar Keepers Friend. For general upkeep, just wipe down the exterior with warm, soapy water—just like you would with your Napoleon BBQ—then dry it off with a soft cloth. When not in use for extended periods, protect your Timberwolf® with the included weather-resistant cover to keep it looking its best.

People Also Asked:

Do Smokeless Fire Pits Actually Work?

The unique airflow design ensures that smokeless fire pits actually work. The Napoleon Timberwolf® uses airflow from the bottom and a secondary air chamber to superheat it. That air mixes with the carbon-rich unburnt gases and smoke, which will ignite in a secondary burn, reducing the smoke to incredibly low levels.

Can a Fire Pit Really be Smokeless?

Even the best smokeless fire pits aren’t entirely smoke-free. While the Timberwolf®’s secondary burn system significantly reduces smoke and emissions, a small amount of exhaust and that familiar campfire scent can still be present once the fire is fully burning. You may also notice some smoke during ignition, as the secondary chamber needs time to heat up and begin burning off the unburnt gases efficiently.

Which is the Best Smokeless Fire Pit?

Naturally, we are going to say it’s our product, the Napoleon Timberwolf® Smokeless Fire Pit, and we have a good reason to say so. The Timberwolf® comes with everything you need to get your fire started, except the wood, which includes the pokers, covers, and other accessories. If you are an avid griller, you could already have a Napoleon charcoal BBQ, which means you have cooking grids as long as you have a Timberwolf® and charcoal kettle grill that are the same diameter, which means that you can turn your fire pit into a cooking station too! We are experts in burning fuel, learning from our exquisite fireplaces and efficient barbecues, we’ve translated that experience into an outdoor fire pit that you can enjoy as well.

Where Does the Smoke Go in a Smokeless Fire Pit?

Simply put, smoke is burnt off through efficient and creative management of oxygen. Air is pulled in through the bottom of your Timberwolf®, is superheated in the secondary burn chamber, and released at the top of the stove, igniting the unburnt exhaust gases from the fire – literally burning the smoke away.

Starry Skies. No Smoke. Just Fire.

Whether you're hosting friends or winding down under the stars, the Timberwolf® Smokeless Fire Pit lets you enjoy the magic of a fire — without the smoke show. Easy to use, beautiful to look at, and built to last, it's a modern twist on a timeless tradition. Light one up and rediscover just how great a night by the fire can be.
